Blashas is a gas giant in the fourth orbit out from Chihazh. Several of its moons have microbial life, with one supporting multicellular organisms. It has one Trojan planet, Galhaf.
Moons of Blashas
Blashas has many moons, three of which are visible to the naked eye from Galhaf. The three visible moons are
- Khanda
- The name is derived from Classical Sanle ák-ald "Inner Child". It orbits Blashas in about 4.2 days. At maximum, it is just under 12 arcminutes away from Blashas, as seen in the Galhafan sky. Its surface has liquid water, and has evolved complex organisms.
- Khumanda
- Derived from kum-ald "Middle Child". It orbits Blashas in about 8.3 days, reaching a maximum of just under 19 arcminutes distance from Blashas, as seen from Galhaf. Khumanda may have once had liquid water on its surface, and is thought to possibly have microbial life under the surface
- Nikhanda
- Derived from nikh-ald "Outer Child". Its orbit takes about 16.6 days to complete, and can reach a maximum of about half a degree separation from Blashas. Nikhanda is large enough to have a thin atmosphere and liquid water on its surface. It has developed microbial life, but no multicellular life has evolved on Nikhanda.
All three moons enter Blashas' shadow once per orbit, causing them to appear to disappear when viewed from Galhaf. These observations helped lead to the development of the heliocentric model.
