Chapter 1

1.

וַיְהִי דְּבַר־יַהְוֶה אֶל־יוֹנָה בֶן־אֲמִתַּי לֵאמֹר׃

ヰハッユハ	ヒㇴダバㇽ-ヤㇷ于	ヨヌ	ベㇴ-アミタィ	͏ラ゜͏͏͏ム͏͏͏͏ㇺル ͏
wihayyuha	hindabar-Yahwu	Yonu	ben-'amitay	lamumru
and.came-to-be-for	ERG (the) word.of-Yahwu	DIR Yonu	son.of-'Amitai	to-say-for (him)

For Jonah, son of Amitai, the word of YHWH came, saying

קוּם לֵךְ אֶל־נִינְוֵה הָעִיר הַגְּדוֹלָה וּקְרָא עָלֶיהָ כִּי־עָלְתָה רָעָתָם לְפָנָי׃

Qowma	leyka	'ēlNīnuta	'īru	gadolu	wiqara	galhā	koy	'alulyō	hin-rāt-hem	panāmī
Arise!	Go!	unto-Ninevah	city	great	and-cry!	against-her	for	arisen-for	ERG disaster-theirs	face-mine

"Arise! Go to Nineveh the great city, and cry to her because their disaster has come before me."

וַיָּקָם יוֹנָה לִבְרֹחַ תַּרְשִׁישָׁה מִלִּפְנֵי יְהוָה וַיֵּרֶד יָפוֹ וַיִּמְצָא אֳנִיָּה בָּאָה תַרְשִׁישׁ וַיִּתֵּן שְׂכָרָהּ וַיֵּרֶד בָּהּ לָבוֹא עִמָּהֶם תַּרְשִׁישָׁה מִלִּפְנֵי יְהוָה׃

וַיהוָה הֵטִיל רוּחַ־גְּדוֹלָה אֶל־הַיָּם וַיְהִי סַעַר־גָּדוֹל בַּיָּם וְהָאֳנִיָּה חִשְּׁבָה לְהִשָּׁבֵר׃
